Got an outdoor movie night coming up – showing ‘Where the Wild Things are’. Make sure you roll your terrible eyes and gnash your terrible teeth…looking forward to finally getting all the gear out of the garage and setting things up.

Vegas – last day – Red Rock Canyon
Well, we are finally home. Had to get up at 4:00 AM this morning to make our 7:00 AM flight, but had a great day yesterday. We spent the day at Red Rock Canyon climbing around giant boulders and geocaching. Red Rock Canyon is basically a 13 mile scenic loop drive with various spots to get out and hike. It is only 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas but feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. Pics in the usual spot.

Vegas – day 3 – the Strip
Today was beautiful and we joined the masses on the Strip today. We saw the Bellagio and will revisit it tonight. Speaking of tonight, we scored discount tickets to see Zumanity, a Cirque du Soleil show. Dan is afraid it might upset his Victorian upbringing. I had an awesome fish taco for lunch, so all is good in the world. We actually played a few slots today, 5 bucks turned into 20. Then we lost about another 8.
We need to figure out tonight’s dinner and get ready for the evening’s fun….gotta jet!

Vegas – day 2 – Hoover Dam
We went to Hoover Dam today and spent some time touring the place. Pretty impressive – we went through and did the whole tour thing. We were able to see all the dam turbines inside as well as some of the other dam inner workings. We got to walk across the dam road and ate our dam lunch there. We posted some dam pics (see post below for access info).
Not sure what we are going to do tomorrow – but most likely we will spend some more time on the strip. More pics to come I am sure!

Maybe a theme I can keep up with?
Ok – so I have not had a lot of stuff to write about. I guess to those who know me, that is no big surprise. I think maybe setting up the blog site was not so much to actually blog……but more of just the challenge - setting it up, installing the software, playing around with the bits and pieces, etc. Same thing I have said about getting a Mac. Everyone says, ‘oh you should get one’, ‘oh they are so great’. But I can’t really see spending X hundreds of dollars on a computer when I can do everything I need on my PC. I need to have something to do with it – some sort of project. I can’t just have it and start using it….can I?
So anyway, since I went through the trouble of setting this blog thing up, I spent some time thinking about what would keep ME interested in writing. Something that I would be able to come back to on a regular basis and keep updating. Well, maybe I will try documenting the purchase and install of a new home server – or as I like to call it – Herver. Hopefully that will provide enough ‘stuff’ to write about to keep this blog thing going. Only time will tell.

Hey – did you see? We got pictures!
So I finally fixed the picture upload problem! Now, I can post text and pics! Yeah me! I am also working on a photo-blog type thingie where I can post pics and EXIF info as well as captions. We also have a new site – www.MEGAPICKLE.com where you can view all of our new photos. Just let us know if you are interested and I will send you a username and password. Thanks!
What’s up with movies these days….?
Boy, have I seen some lousy movies lately. Now, don’t get me wrong – I love movies. I love getting lost in the story, in the visuals, in the sounds – I like watching movies. It is about the only real hobby I have anymore. So, when I get a crappy movie, I get upset. I honestly don’t know how some of these things make it past the first draft. For instance – ‘Shoot ‘em up’. Holy cow what a piece of garbage that was. The acting was terrible, the writing was hokey, and there was nothing realistic about it at all. Okay, now I know what you’re saying – ‘What about that movie mad you think it was going to be good?’. Well, nothing, so I guess it was just stupidity that made me get it. But how about this one – ‘Pirates of the Caribbean – Part 3′. Part 3! That means there were two other parts to this series to help set the story, the characters, etc. Man oh man. That was supposed to be good, right? Wrong. Man that thing was hard to follow. And all they did is yell ‘FIRE!’ throughout the whole thing. Well, at least they didn’t have to fight on top of some giant wheel again and again like they did in the second one. Other movies I didn’t like – ‘The Invasion’, ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’, and ‘Bug’. Is it me? Do I just gravitate towards lousy movies? Or are they just bad movies? Let me know what you think. What are some of the worst movies you have seen? Recommend some decent movies! Please!

Segway and Me (well, us)
My wife and I just got back from a trip to not-so-sunny California. Me for business, her for pleasure. We spent Presidents Day in San Francisco just messing around. We signed up for a tour from this company that proved to be a lot of fun. You are going to think that I am a total geek – duh – but, we rented Segway’s! Man, what a blast! Especially going up those killer hills in San Fran. It took us maybe 5 minutes to figure them out and then we were off. I would absolutely recommend a tour like this to anyone. There were all types of people in our tour group – old, young, fat, skinny. Everyone was able to ride these things. The tour was a bit expensive, but I think we did get to see a lot more than we would have been able to just walking. And we had fun! If you have the chance – try it – you’ll love it!

Mii and my Wii
I don’t know how many of you out there have a Wii, but apparently there are a lot of you. You STILL have trouble finding them in the stores – some sort of conspiracy? You decide.
I am continually amazed at the amount of technology you get in that little white box for what it costs. I won’t go into all the specs as there are countless sites with that info already, but I want to say a little about the Wiimote. It comes with IR, RF, BlueTooth, and motion sensors. All of which some people much smarter than I have put to good use. For instance, the guy at this site uses his Wiimote as a BlueTooth camera to create a virtual whiteboard. He also does some pretty neat stuff with VR. And it is really easy to replicate (works just fine for me)! This site lets you create your own Mii’s on the computer. And finally on this site, you can copy Mii’s that you uploaded to your Wiimote to your computer as JPGs. I just can’t get over the creativity that some people have. Now if we could put some of that energy into something other than video games, we might be on to something!
